Show i J V VJ vu J vr o ebl vr I Goodbye Three and a half years ago I heartedly half-heartedly submitted my resume to this newspaper I never would have thought that I would have stayed so long on the newspaper staff but today I I see that it was the best decision of my life I have run the gauntlet in the college journalism world I have held nearly every editorial position at one onetime onetime onetime time or another have been thrown into the middle of heated battles between faculty and administrators as well as staff vs staff and have even watched the newspaper grow into a force on campus I will never forget the friends I have hav made two of my former fonner bosses have become some of my great friends I will never forget the night all-night layout sessions in which we nearly main- main J Jeren eren W. W Canning in Editor lined Mountain Dew to stay awake For nearly six months we had a stack of soda cans that would make an entire row of fraternities proud Then there were the legendary 3 am a.m. air- air guitar sessions to the music of Journ Journey y or Pink Floyd using a piece of shelving as a guitar and borrowing the radio stations station's microphone stand to pretend we were the original guitar heroes Ill I'll always remember the nights at The Pie chatting about how much The Globe is better than the or the nights in my basement where former Editor Nick Parker and I solved all the worlds world's journalism problems over overa a bottle of Bacardi The times I have spent at atThe atThe atThe The Globe have been some of the best of my life The Globe has prepared me for forthe forthe forthe the real world The has done everything they could to support us Nick Burns Bums director and newspaper faculty adviser was able to motivate us usand usand usand and be there when he was needed Jody newspaper professional adviser showed up to nearly every meeting lending a critical eye to the work that we were doing My most prized memory of my time at this newspaper occurred nearly two years ago when Parker and I accepted the award for being the second best junior college newspaper in the country Neither of us were expecting an award and were extremely shocked when our name as announced Pro-Mormon Pro Anti- Anti Monnon horrible and disrespectful are just a afew afew afew few of the names we have been called This just go goes s sto to prove that I have done my job as the editor of this newspaper Now as The Doors' Doors The End plays in the background I can now pack up my stuff and leave I started at this newspaper over three years ago as a timid unconfident person but today I find myself as a strong independent and motivated writer I walk out the doors of my office today as a better person for the work that I have done This is the only friend the end This may be the end of my college journalism career but its it's just the beginning of everything Goodbye hello world Thank you again |
