Show February I shares Valentines Valentine's Day love with w th troops Eric Smith Contributing L Writer i ii i Valentines Valentine's Day isn't the the only notable event going on this month the Student Nursing Alliance ONA is is hosting We Love Our Troops Month The alongside the American Society of Engineering ASEE is currently accepting donations for care packages that are to be besent besent besent sent to troops in Iraq The project is called We Love Our Troops Month and it comes to a close on Feb 20 i J We e realize that national support for the war is low and we wanted to do what we can to keep morale high We Ve got a list of items that was I L very specific to the soldiers needs said Corrie Come Bates the community outreach coordinator for the Hygienic wipes baby wipes tips q-tips batteries beef jerky eye drops toiletries hard candy chap stick and letters of thanks are among the items the is looking for Donation boxes I can be found in the LAC building and in the Student Life and Leadership office What Whatever ver you you- would like if you were in their boots says Bates The NA isn't only looking for item donations monetary donations to cover shipping costs will be accepted too Paper hearts are being sold for 5 across the campus and people are encouraged to write letters of thanks on them so that they may be sent to the soldiers along with the care packages Every person who purchases a paper heart will also have their name turned into a drawing to win great prizes among them themis is a PDA donated by the nursing department said Bates Despite controversy over the situation in Iraq the theSNA theSNA theSNA wants the project to remain neutral in regards to the warWe warWe warWe war We need to do this for the troops We could ho honestly estly care less what people think of the war said Bates The troops are areaway areaway areaway away from the comforts of home and we want them to feel appreciated The idea was pitched by Vice President Lisa Ehlers who has a son in in Iraq during a meeting to discuss the community service project We Ve sent care packages over Christmas and it was really well received said Ehlers The and the ASEE in the project recently the Native American merican Club and the Biotechnology Student Association have joined inon in inon inon on the project as well Any other school clubs interested in helping are encouraged to speak to Andrea Crittenden the advisor Her office is in the Lifetime Activities Center room A. lIS-A.
