Show Athletes dont don't don dont t deserve their funds educators deserve those u. u high paychecks Megan Murdock Contributing writer Professional athletes in America are treated like heroes Millions of fans attend sporting events every year The Super Bowl alone draws about 90 million viewers with numbers growing each year If you want to run an anad anad anad ad during the Super Bowl better cough up 27 million dollars to do so The point here is professional athletes are getting paid way more than they should be Player salaries in the and NFL can range from to millions trillions of dollars a year Many I players are making millions of dollars as well Teachers are seen as heroes to some people but they do not receive the same glory as professional athletes Teachers change lives and help children every day but it goes unnoticed Teacher salaries start as little as per year So why does a persons person's salary who's job consists of lifting weights running and performing in a sports event completely outweigh a persons person's salary who teaches vital learning skills math skills and improves reading levels leveis Imagine if every single professional athlete in America today had to give 1 percent of their yearly salary to an education fund That education fund could be dispersed to teachers around the United States Millions of dollars could be used toward higher education rather than being spent on materialistic things If teacher salaries were raised the quality of teaching would be better Teachers making higher wages could then focus more on their students and their planning than worrying about bills stacking up Lets Let's say all that money from professional sports was not given to teacher salaries rather to an education fund so schools schools can spend more money on supplies Students and teachers can never have too j many supplies so having more money to spend oh on those things would raise the quality of education the students are receiving All professional athletes should be required to give 1 percent of their earnings to an education fund Kobe Bryant Terrell Owens and LeBron James could all afford to give that little up Even the lowest players on the totem pole making the smallest smalle t amount of money could give 1 I percent of their paycheck to a fund for education Maybe America should rethink its priorities We should change the way our society runs making teachers the highest paid people and athletes some of the lowest 4 |
