Show i v Main aID in I Street ree Cam Campus am us Ready ea to Go Michael Grisley Contributing Writer Main Street Campus willbe willbe will willbe be ready for students on October Classes for this campus will begin 7 weeks into the Fall 2004 semester The Main Street Campus opening will relief for ri rily v. v come as a approximately approximate approximate- ly students who took classes at atthe atthe the campus before it was closed last fall The campus was closed due to safety issues and seismic concerns Im just thinking of the safety of the students and the convenience of the students said Larry Landward Campus Director The Main Street Campus was scheduled to open for the first day of classes on August 25 but ongoing construction forced school officials to postpone the opening It was a very ambitious schedule they had to be open by fall said Dave Buhler the Associate Commissioner of Public Affairs for the Utah Systems of Higher Education Earlier this year sent out brochures announcing that 18 different different different differ differ- ent courses were available for the fall semester at the campus The delay in opening the Main Street Center has bumped that number down to eight courses including Intro to Chemistry Small Group Communication Principles of Public Speaking and Principles of Macroeconomics Other classes at the Main Street Campus are Personal Finance Human Relations- Relations Career Development College Business Algebra-Business Anthropology- Anthropology Culture and Human Experience All eight courses being offered at atthe atthe atthe the Main Street Campus for Fall 2004 will be accelerated courses Accelerated courses allow students to earn a full semesters semester's credit in seven I and a half weeks of class According to the campus's square foot building offers seven modem modern classrooms four computer labs four tech high-tech conference rooms and a sixth-floor sixth dining area The conference rooms which can be rented have wireless computer access and are wired for international v. v I f 6 j jl o a 4 l c H I r r. r l FA Y 7 r r r r I J I IIi Ii Jf- Jf a i v a r Young Republicans met September 30 in the Student Events Center to watch the coverage cO of the presidential debate mg ing Students who are interested in attending attending attending attend attend- ing classes at the downtown campus will have to find their own parking because the campus has no onsite parking or validation validation validation val val- services One option is for stu stu- stu- stu dents to park and ride using the stations only downtown location the Main Street Campus is located at S.
