S Kaufman and d Moss Harts Hart's Pulitzer Prize winnin winning play You Cant Can't Take it With You This extremely funny and clever tale about a very eccentric family in mid-Depression mid New York City is full of witty and profound lines The plot revolves around Alice Sycamore her fiance Tony Kirby and their remarkably opposite families The families get together unexpectedly when the Kirbys come to Alices Alice's home for dinner on the wrong night only to see her family in all their idiosyncratic glory The evening advances and we see just how zany Alices Alice's family is whether it be beby beby beby by her father creating fireworks in the basement her sister practicing ballet allday all allday allday day every day or her law in whipping out tunes on his xylophone By the end of the night the families end up in in m jail when the police show up and arrest them all due to suspicion of anar anar- chism HS Hale Centre Theatres Theatre's production of this hilarious play is nothing short of sen sen- With a spectacular cast under the lucid direction of David Nieman a wonderfully quirky set by Andrew Barrus and impeccable costume design by Amy Frary and Peggy Willis this show will attract and delight audiences throughout its run It isn't just the production team that makes this play worthwhile the actors carry cant it to a new level Linda Jean Stephenson portrays Alices Alice's mother a very blunt and terribly funny playwright among other things to a tee delivering her lines with perfect timing Marissa Young and Ryan J. J Poole are more than believable as the young couple Alice and Tony who are caught between the two families Douglas Stone makes an excellent Mr Kirby a cultured somewhat somewhat somewhat some some- what pretentious Wall Street CEO who is inspired to participate in the joy life holds Sally Hale an owner of w gives an exceptional performance as Mrs Kirby an avid spiritualist That isn't even mentioning the comical performance of Andrew R.
