Show I rO D j it l lr it r r Vt i 18 I y I 1 t. t f t p p I Vi I 1 I W s gj g.- H r Ms w vf I rJ Josh Hansen gt Staff Writer r rb b Whenever I start a diet I was always get pumped up and ed I organize myself with charts and schedules 1 I know Im I'm a iP geek with all the foods that Ill I'll eat and all the exercises Ill I'll do I II Ido Ido I do great for maybe a week and then I 1 start to wander Why do I Ii wander Because I like to eat outs ft Tf- It seems like lil 11 in in n our society IU un U LL J ff that Eating Out and Diet Diet i dont don't mix j just st like fire and andt 4 t gas dont don't mix either t This is the curse of McDonalds We as Americans v f. f associate eating o out tto to fast food fatties like triple decke decked cheeseburgers cheeseburgers cheeseburgers cheese cheese- i burgers extra thick milkshakes and salty french fries There a are e a a a- l number of choices out there we need not not deprive deprive ourselves of one of our God given senses Last weekend my Uncle Un called and said that that all all of the cousins were meeting down in Provo Prove for dinner I thought to myself There goes my diet But not necessarily we choose to eat at the Macaroni Grill I love Italian food The pasta breads and sauces It can be a nightmare for someone who is trying to watch their weight Carbohydrates are not a dieters friends and the Italians know how to laden their dishes with them J n T What was 1 I going to OO do ao aoi I i 1 could just not eat and risk the possibility of looking like Im I'm anorexic in front of my whole family I could actually eat what I want and ENJOY IT I chose to eat of course Even though I was on the able to diet I was actually was enjoy my meal I enjoyed a good chicken pasta plate water a side of scrumptious vegetables and I didn't feel guilty about it j I 1 have found the number one thing you can do as a dieter is to gain knowledge of your body and how it works Knowledge is power goes the old adage You have to make good correct decisions decisions decisions deci deci- while eating out I 1 have outlined outlined outlined out out- lined a few things I have learned in my years of dieting and non- non dieting while eating out 1 For one stay away from anything anything anything any any- thing that is fried deep-fried this includes original French fries Onion Rings and my favorite cream cheese filled 1 1 o es r Choose e items J J a apen uv 0 p pp u that are grilled baked or broiled In my opinion there is nothing like a broiled trout Low on fat and cholesterol and high in the good fats and and- protein that are essential al in a hea healthy thy diet 2 Stay away from high carbohydrate carbo carbo- hydrate filled foods this includes the pre-dinner pre bread plate sugary drinks and dairy rich goods The best advice that was ever ever given to tome tome tome me by my mom om was wa's was r. r to just drink cuts down the calories calories calories calo calo- wat water r. r It cuts down on ries and d c carbohydrates rb 1 dr tes Especially before a meal the bread plate is just needless carbohydrates carbohydrates carbohydrates carbo carbo- hydrates and calories 3 Eat simple salads Wendy's came out with a whole array of garden salads My personal favorite is the Taco Salad Just because the item has the word salad in it doesn't automatically ly make it healthy Once you pile on the chili corn sour cream salsa and tortilla chips your Taco Salad is suddenly a fiesta full of calories and carbohydrates Choose salads that have substance substance substance sub sub- stance but be careful on the dressing and content because those calories can add up 4 Reward yourself with a treat The about eating out is the desserts You would eat the dessert first if you could With any diet the harsher ther the r restrictions you put on yourself the harder the fall of all your goals That's why why- it is important to t reward yourself with something something something some some- thing that you enjoy To me I like O I to reward myself with an occasional occasional occasional occa occa- or Frosty I loveice love loveice loveice ice cream and nothing can stop me from loving Ben and Jerrys Jerry's Half Baked Work around your rewards and make goals that reward you with that item I lost four pounds since the first of the month I deserve a package of Peanut Butter Rewards will keep your diet on track Just remember the same principles principles principles ples apply at home You cant can't have a pizza chalk full of your favorites meats ana and cheeses delivered at your door This weeks week's question is this What is weight loss program do you use and why does it or doesn't doesn't doesn't does does- nt it work for you Please email email email e- e mail your response comments weight loss questions or and/or a concerns to Your comments and questions are needed because weare we weare are ate not going to get this weight off without your experiences C O R I |
