T t Sf By Sarah f v Contributing Writer ti c t. t i f In less than three quarters most of ofus ofus us us are going to be trying to decide i what to do over the summer My advise is to start planning now friends who Imagine yourself among I dont don't speak your native tongue dont don't dontI eat the foods you eat but have so much in common When you spend your summers abroad you can be educating yourself while you have the time tune of your life There are a lot of work abroad and study abroad programs that the language language language lan lan- guage center can help get you set up with And if you pick the right country country country coun coun- try you can go without having to spend a lot of money Speaking from personal experience I would pick Mexico Imagine yourself basking in the sun on a warm sandy beach eating fish and drinking beer and trying to remember the little Spanish you learned in If you can be careful with money you can spend an entire summer on the beach in Mexico with witha a backpack a change of clothes and dollars in travelers checks If youre you're into beer or mota bring a lit little little little lit lit- tle extra If you de decide ide to go to Mexico there is one beach in particular I would recommend Its It's a small clothing optional beach in the south of Mexico on the Pacific Ocean Its It's called The first time I went there I was with my brother Dan About half of the people on the beach were nude and Dan finally decided he was going to give it a try He walked down to the shoreline with a pair of boxers and then removed them before entering entering enter enter- entering ing the water While he was swimming swimming swimming swim swim- ming in the ocean I watched a man with a stick and bundle over his shoulder walk by pick up Dans Dan's boxers boxers box box- ers ers stuff them into his pocket and proceed down the beach I watched the whole thing but I did not dare to say anything to the man When Dan finished swimming he could not find his boxers and was forced to walk back up the beach completely naked When he reached the top he grabbed a towel wrapped i i'M M 4 i J Mexico is an extremely varied country with many outstanding sights Not the least of which are the fabulous beaches which can be fo found nd up and down its southern peninsula it around himself and asked me if I had any idea what happened to his boxers I not wanting him to know I Iwas Iwas Iwas was chicken lied and told him I hadn't hadn't hadn't had had- nt seen a thing To me is the greatest place in the world The water is so warm and blue Behind the beach are restaurants with roofs made from palm tree fronds cabins and rows and rows of hammocks The nights are dark and filled with millions of stars Scattered along the beach are bonfires where friends gather around keeping each other happy and drunk Finally when you cant can't keep your eyes open open- any longer you climb into your hammock wrap your blanket around you and listen to the waves receding and returning on and on into the night Experiences abroad are ones you will never forget and if you keep putting it off you will never go |
