Show n. n I Millennial Madness at Institute I By Janell Jane Ross Staff Writer The Taylorsville Utah Institute located at the southwest comer of Redwood campus is offering all student an opportunity to enjoy a afree afree afree free lunch and tour their new facil fadl- The 34 million- million dollar addition is now completed and open to students On January and all alt Student staff and faculty are invited to the institute to check out the new building and eat lunch The institute will be hosting a variety of activities during its Millennial Millennial Mil MiI Madness Open house celebration designed to introduce the students and surrounding community to the facilities available available available avail avail- able in the new building Besides the lunch other activities include breakfast bagels a three on three basketball tournament games jl tours s ja ba a ping pong ping gong tournament a aa volleyball VOl ey a tournament an and a dance The square foot addition addition addition addi addi- tion includes a purpose multi-purpose room complete with a size full-size basketball court and an activity room that offers pool pong ping-pong air hockey and foosball tables Along with this the new addition has a chapel a cultural hall two additional classrooms and an style auditorium-style classroom to house the institute choir The extension also contains a basement basement basement base base- ment that will provide space for an additional three classrooms to be completed on an needed as-needed basis This recent addition is the fifth expansion that has been added onto the institute building and has roughly doubled te to square footage of the previous building Institute Director Dan Jones commented this last expansion was aimed primarily at providing more activity space n Prior to the new addition the institute had been forced to utilize neighborhood neighborhood neighborhood neighbor neighbor- hood chapels to hold their ties Student council president Steve Larsen explained that the new building would be able to accommodate the programs that were already in place and also provide an opportunity for sion The additional space pace has also so made it possible f for r the institute institute institute tute to expand the list of classes it offers to students The Taylorsville institute has seen steady growth in its student body over the last five years and hopes the new facilities will help to continue the trend The purpose purpose purpose pur pur- pose of the new building is to provide provide provide pro pro- vide students an escape form the r x rR i J 1 fiu 1 t rf j pt Li r r 4 t r rr I f ft r t.- t. jf I if I j i r 1 I r fJ L' L uJ J o 1 d' d Two students relax to a game of pool at of the newly remodeled Institute pressures of campus life Students Students Students Stu Stu- dents will be provided with places for quiet study to play games eat lunch and be spiritually The addition will help us achieve our number one goal of helping our students grow ally as well as intellectually said the rest of the Redwood campus Larsen The facilities are to be made avail- avail The new institute building was able to tc the college as well as the designed to fit in aesthetically with surrounding community |
