Show j Student Association Honors Veterans By Theresa OConnor O'Connor Feature Editor celebrated the eightieth Veterans Veteran's Day last week on November II 11 Veterans Veteran's across America celebrated and remembered those who have fought and those who have died to secure the safety of this nation In a joint effort between the Veterans Veteran's Affairs office Student Activities and Assistant Registrar Norma Boeckner celebrated with a tribute of their own The ceremony began with by the Quartermasters Quartermaster's Company raising the flag This year the days day's events also included military taps lead by 83 year old Tuck Marcantonio The taps made it more emotional and more meaningful said Boeckner The highlight of the event was when Lieutenant Colonel Penny Cook from Fort Douglas spoke Cook spoke on present day Veterans Veteran's and the missions they accomplish on a A y a i 1 P 3 C Y f fv v Tk daily basis She focused on the sacrifices they make especially when the missions force them to give up some of their family life It was wonderful the symbolism of having having having hav hav- ing a female soldier for me as a woman was very nice Boeckner said The ceremony was conducted and organized organized organized organ organ- well Boeckner said It was a timely presentation and it went well Kim Lemmon Student Activities Public Relations Vice President introduced everyone everyone everyone every every- one after the ceremony She was very attentive attentive attentive atten atten- tive to the soldiers and the speaker Boeckner explained Kim did a very good job Boeckner stat stat- ed Boeckner who's husband and son are both bothin in the Army explained what Veterans Veteran's Day means to her I have a very deep gratitude i of what my family members have given up upI I for what they hey believe in |
