Show Club Rush Spoiled By Low Attendance y By Amber Dawn Parker Staff Writer On Jan lan 20 the held its annual Club Rush Day in the Lifetime Activities Center LAC Located in inthe inthe inthe the foyer of the building all clubs and organizations of the college were invited to attend The purpose of Club Rush Day is to gain exposure for the clubs and organizations as well as spark an interest in students This is an opportunity for students to see what the college has to offer them as far as student organizations The event was held from to during which time the clubs and organizations had booths and tables set up to attract potential members The clubs were well there were great displays displays displays dis dis- dis- dis Storrs plays available says Gordon advisor for Coloring Outside the Lines clubs are not really foremost in their students minds this event can interest people if they come by This event is a way to make students students students stu stu- stu- stu dents aware of the number and variety of clubs that the college has to offer them Club Rush Day usually held at atthe atthe atthe the beginning of the semester provides provides provides pro pro- vides time where clubs are able to show videos print flyers and give information about themselves to stu stu- dents There were prizes available at the door and several organizations had r things available like candy and raffle rame tickets It was successful for those g that attended Rush Day in general is a f good idea and a good opportunity for r j j students said Sonia Parker advisor r J for the Hispanic Student Council t Several clubs were pleased with j the response they got said Jason l Stout campus affairs vice president f 1 F There were however some disappointments disappointments t with Club Rush along Day There was not much publicity and not t many clubs turned out stated f LeAnne president of a American Chemical Society There was also a low tow attendance rate of stu- stu i dents Dreary weather coupled with V fix poor advertising resulted in a poor turn rum 4 l iT out Banners for the event were not in y I 1 place until Wednesday and with a conflict conflict con- con f f the Center in scheduling College was not available for use v 1 r N However many students and faculty faculty r ty agreed that Club Rush Day is a great i. i idea and most clubs need the expo- expo X sure There are several organizations A 5 V- V with much diversity available to students stu- stu v. v j j dents and Club Rush Day provides v St information t t for lor t those h ose w who h 0 want to Si join It also sparks interest in those i 1 who W h 0 may not be aware of what the Student Activities Organizations lions have to offer |
