Show Big Hit is Not as Big of a Hit as Planned By Tiffany Staff Writer After four years of anticipation Ebbs Ebb's s latest album Big Hit finally hit the shelves The band hailing from the UK consists of vocalist guitarist Douglas McCarthy keyboard whiz Bon Harris and the latest addition of drummer Jason Payne Former drummer Julian Beeston left the band in 1992 With brutal pounding rhythms pulsating and harsh vocals vocals vocals vo vo- cals Ebb exploded into the underground club scene in 1985 Most notably known for their songs Murderous Join In The Chant ChanCo Lighting Man and Fun To Be Had they laid the foundation for rave music and a concept for Nine Inch Nails to capitalize on Big Hit their fifth album maintains some of their original sound but might disappoint any diehard diehard diehard die die- hard Ebb fan Their strong individualism appears appears appears ap ap- ap- ap pears to be shattered The song Floodwater sounds more like Sipie Simple Simple Sim Sim- pie Minds than themselves Another track en entitled ti tIed Boy could actually pass for a song from the Tears for Fears album The Hurting The rest of the album is not that bad Their remaining songs have more moie emotion than their past albums I Thought is actually almost a love lovesong lovesong lovesong song which comes as a surprise from froma a band that usually sings violently of pain rebellion and other subjects to disintegrate the mind There are combined elements from their four preceding albums but they have incorporated more guitar and live drumming into their evolved industrial sound Even though I was disappointed by their latest work it is still a must have for any CD collection However However However How How- ever I would recommend you check checkout out their back catalog of So Bright So Strong 1985 That Total Age 1986 Show time 1 As Isep 1 and 1991 u |
