Public Relations THE College College- Coll ge Activities Board sponsored sponsored sponsored spon spon- a day at the zoo for the children hildren of the Salt Lake Travelers Traveler's Aid Homeless Shelter The Executive Council Student association association association as as- as well as members from various clubs went with the children to help them hem L t y zoo provided lunch as well as free admission CAB member Angie Lowery who is also an employee at the shelter org organized the event which was attended by over 50 childr children There were over ver 30 student volunteers volunteers volunteers volun volun- from different schools across the valley I plan on scheduling another activity monthly for students students' and the children so everyone can be involved Lowry saidI saidI saidI said col col- college I felt that communication between lege students and the homeless kids needed to be initiated said Lowry By doing activities activities activities ac ac- ac- ac like H gle Zoo or just by co coming ng to the shelter to work with the children we can become mentors for them and help nurture on-go on going on-going g relationships These kind o 0 events need to happen frequently not just during the holidays but buton buron on a weekly basis x St V w 5 I t- t f has organized various events with the shelter in the past La Last t summer the Student Association took the children to Lagoon Fall Quarter the parents and children i from the shelter came to had a a wonderful dinner and watched a Bruins basketball game For the majority of the volunteers this iwas Jf i- i was their first fast experience with the shelter c i 1 t jf 1 r. i i iC C r f- f |
