Show Activities Budget Cut But Everyone Represented Dear Editor DURING the summer quarter a letter was submitted by a disappointed student regarding the CAB policies at as well as minorities being represented in activities I am writing in response to these concerns I hope to clear up a few misconceptions that students may have av J regarding activities s at t satellite campuses the he minorities issues mentioned mentioned mentioned men men- and the goals of student government in general The first fast and foremost issue that students need to understand is that budgets have been cut tremendously this year hurting all facets of the College including activities CABs CAB's goal is to provide activities benefiting the maximum number of students These activities activities activities ac ac- ac- ac mainly occur during the fall winter and spring quarters One of the issues raised regarded the reggae reggae reggae reg reg- reg- reg gae band Me Irie Heights playing at Redwood campus and not at I would like to clarify the sponsor of this activity The group sponsoring the band was not student ac ac- ac- ac The admissions department invited Irie Heights to perform for the Welcome 93 incoming freshmen orientation seminar which included students who will be attending attending attending attend attend- ing one of our several campuses The satellite campuses are not being overlooked overlooked over over- looked A barbecue an and a breakfast took pla place e during the summer quarter for South and Sandy campuses respectively also a luncheon at the Airport campus and a barbecue at Red Red- wood The TIle summer budget was very slim but we did the most with the money we had bad In regard to days honoring cultures of various ethnic student groups I would be happy to work with these groups providing a representative contacts me with their interests The goal of student government is to increase increase increase in in- crease the communication between the students students students stu stu- stu- stu dents and their representatives We look forward forward forward for for- ward to hearing from the students and you'll find our doors are am always open Butler Business |
