Show Upset over Horizon editorial Dear Editor I am thoroughly dismayed and disappointed over the connotation of the Horizons Horizon's editorial dated April 15 1992 f c 1 entitled Who de decides ides what is the good of the group j Quote Many of these new students will have such V t J low grade point averages or and/or ACT scores they couldn't be accepted anywhere else and Students who have bombed out or dropped out of high school need to go back to night school instead of applying for admittance at institutions of v higher learning h The insinuation that new students with low ACT scores are less deserving of an education than those more academically i Y- Y endowed is an outrage and has absolutely nothing to do with t f the issue of the new SI 1 1 per credit hour surcharge Ht V I I. I myself was myself was a new student here once here once and am grateful that i vf no one told me I wasn't good enough to enroll or that there it was no room at the inn Although I did not bomb out of high school I had not been in school for almost 10 years and am very glad the courses offered here allowed me to catch up and improve my skills to what they need to be in order to succeed in college I daresay a good deal of students are enrolled at because because because be be- cause of the substantially lower cost of attending here while still getting the benefit of being able to transfer their credits to toa a university Perhaps those that feel their intelligence level far exceeds everyone else's shouldn't be so cheap and should pay the higher tuition to attend a better institution of higher learning learning learn- learn 4 ing instead of going to Kathryn M M.
