M Astorga Columnist THE Turning Point Program serves single parents and displaced homemakers I would like to tell you about the typical Turning Point Poin Program Program Program Pro Pro- gram individual that we serve Jane Doe is 27 years old with three children and is inthe in inthe inthe the process of divorce She may be receiving gov government aid through Aids to Families with Dependent Children Her Human Services Self Sufficiency Sufficiency Sufficiency Suf Suf- Worker is requiring that she either enroll in training training training train train- ing or obtain employment At this point we often get involved with this individual She comes to us needing help to focus on an educational or employment goal Our services services services ser ser- vices are aimed at clarifying options and identifying resources such as day-care day services transportation and financial assistance Some clients decide to enroll in college college college col col- lege and others may opt to seek employment through our empl employment specialist The Turning Point Program Program Program Pro Pro- gram sponsors a weekly support support sup sup- t port group known as COPE We also provide a weekly brown bag series open to all students faculty staff and community members In addition addition addition ad ad- to the activities on campus we are very much involved involved in in- in community o outreach outreach out out- t- t reach programs and conducting conducting conducting conduct conduct- ing life transition classes through the school districts We are a good resource if you are a aware are of a single parent or displaced homemaker male or female who needs help with networking networking networking net net- working and identifying g resources If you have any questions please call us at the Turning Point Program 9 7 |
