F 1 1 n j 1 if Iii 1 Y w. w 7 l. l I I I C i I Bernadette Astorga Columnist to CONGRATULATIONS Connie Stevens Connie was recently awarded an education scholarship by the National Association of Countries This is a dream she would never have imagined imagined imagined im im- im- im possible a few years ago Connie became involved with th the Turning Point Program Program Program Pro Pro- gram last year when she attended attended attended at- at at at- tended one of our Life Transition Transition Transition Transi Transi- tion workshops Since then her life has gone through many changes Despite the many challenges challenges challenges challen challen- Connie faced while going to school time full a difficult divorce and being the single parent of five children she children she managed to maintain a and graduated this summer summer summer sum sum- mer with an AS in Ethnic Minority Health and Hum Human n Services She has also served an internship with Valley Mental Health In the fall Connie will be starting on her Bachelors Bachelor's DeRree Degree Degree De De- De- De gree Rree in Sociology at the University of Utah She plans to get her masters master's degree Her goal is to help abused women who are trying to make positive positive positive tive changes in n their lives Connie has worked so hard to achieve her goals Weare Weare We Weare are extremely proud of her and all our other s single parents and displaced homemakers who are working working working work work- ing hard to make a better life for themselves |
