W F o 0 t C Cv v. v C w- w wE RC E- E Women deserve locker room access Dear Editor The article entitled A woman womans woman's s pl place ce is not in themen's themen's the themen's mens men's locker locket room by your sports sports' columnist in your Oct 10 publication is an unfair portrayal and representation of the real underlying issue Whether a woman r reporter porter not just some woman off the street as the writer eluded should be allowed access into the mens men's locker room is not only a matter of the players player's privacy but of equal access to all journalists to do their job Admittedly the NFL player needs his privacy and the reporter needs her story which only suggests that both parties It must st come to a workable compromise But Mr Baer this is notime no notime notime time to rekindle that hackneyed hackneyed hackneyed hack hack- saying about where a womans woman's place is or should not be The mens men's locker as you rightfully put it is a place where boys will boys and though women reporters may not be welcome welcome wel wet come it is not the kingdom of male chauvinism No such place is or r should be accepted accepted ac ac- as the chauvinistic kingdom u under der anyone's imf im im- r f I. I f l' l or Such attitude and thinking breeds contempt and hatred which may not be controlled within the kingdom boundaries We need solutions and suggestions suggestions suggestions no careless kingdom remarks kind that only lead to more polarity How about a post-game post press room for only the players requested for interviewing by the press with limited time prior to shower time The players who ar are not nut being Interviewed interviewed interviewed in in- should no longer worry about strangers in their locker room Just a sugg sug sug- g tion Horizons Horizon's sports columnist should educate his readers that the million dollar salaries earned by these National National National Na- Na Na Na- Football League players are made possible by very lucrative billion dollar contracts paid to the NFL and its team owners by the TV networks for the rights to cover th these e gam games And part of these contracts include making available NFL players to the media personnel- personnel gender notwithstanding The press wants comments from players right after the N.
