Show What If By Trudi Smith Picture if you will a bleak and barren landscape landscape landscape land land- in a far away corner of Siberia There is a war going on and fighting in inthe inthe inthe the trenches are bone- bone weary snow caked sol sol- diers They are hungry cold tired of spirit and frightened but they remain steadfast in their duty This is not a picture of the fighting men in the Army of the USSR This is a picture of the courage and conviction of their women What if their women had stayed in their cozy little homes Another thought if you will Outside in the hot glaring glaring glaring glar glar- ing sun the entire Apache stronghold bears down on ona ona ona a small township in early settlement Kansas Inside the small log cabins and dirt thatched huts the people grab rifles and ammunition in the hopes of fighting off this marauding band This is also a war and the women at that time fired as many rifles as did their men and sons and brothers What if if the women had crawled under their beds It is my opinion that our women have the strength perseverance and courage necessary to defend our country And I believe they should You may ask yourself who is this person person person per per- son with this opinion Allow me to tell you I am a 32 year old woman certainly certainly certainly in no danger of being drafted but I am also a mother of a 14 year old and a 12 year old daugh daughter ter I would be proud to have my children both my daughters and my sons defend my country And should they lose their lives in this glorious cause I would feel comfort in knowing that they had the courage of their con con- |
