Show VIEWPOINTS Views and opinions expressed on this page are not necessarily those of Points West or We reserve the right to edit and shorten any letter over words Dear Editor Reading the article in the Salt Lake Tribune I understand understand understand under under- stand Food Services is one of the seven programs under consideration to be dropped from curriculum This will be a terrible mistake Machine shop and printing just missed the ax because of special consideration by the institutional council being noted that machinists are in high demand in Salt Lake Valley and that has the only printing program in the state Well Food Services is in terrible trouble in our state also and is very much in need of improvement has the only COMPLETE Food Service program available around this area Our Food and Sanitation class alone is isone isone isone one of the many classes needed desperately in our state Why cant can't the governor or any of our high officials see and understand what trouble and chaos our restaurants and other eating establishments are in especially from a tourists tourist's point of view Many are in need of well-trained well people in the food service business including chefs waitresses managers etc We have too many poorly run eating places here in our state Just one example is Utah should be ashamed of our In the State of Idaho Boise the are highly recommended and with just cause It is a clean family place to eat Its personnel are very polite and know exactly what to do to make tourists and other customers want to come back We cannot say that about here in Salt Lake Who in their right mind would recommend recommend recommend rec rec- it or other similar eating establishments to our tourists and really feel good about it Its It's so important for Salt Lake to upgrade its restaurants restaurants restaurants rants and eating establishments However without proper training this would be impossible Good food people are very much in demand Ask any of Salt Lakes Lake's restaurant managers or owners has a very good thing going in our Food Service Program and is of much value to our food service indus indus- try Lets Let's build it up not throw it all away Thank you Karen S.
