Show A ii Intercollegiate Rodeo season starts March Sam McCrone I f With the spring weather pr comes comes the start of another Intercollegiate Intercollegiate Intercollegiate In In- rodeo season f Beginning March 30 31 weekly rodeos will be held throughout Utah and Southern Southern Southern South South- ern Idaho will be represented at each by 20 members of the Rodeo Club There are 10 qualifying rodeos in the Rocky Mountain Mountain Moun Moun- tain tamn Region two of which were held earlier during the Winter Quarter They were Snow College Rodeo and Weber State College Rodeo The College of Southern Idaho will be holding its rodeo a at t Twin Falls this weekend March 30 31 with performances performances mances mantes beginning at pm p.m. each night The other rodeos will follow Dixie College April 6 7 Utah Tech College at Salt Lake April 13 14 Boise State University April 20 21 22 Idaho State University April 27 28 Southern Utah State Stat College May 4 5 Utah Tech College at Provo May 11 12 Utah State University University University sity May 18 1819 19 Each college listed has as rodeo club and from the club six men are chosen to make makeup makeup up p the mens men's team and three women to make up the women's team All the other members can compete but on an individual individual individual dual basis At the end of the regular season the top two contestants in each event along with the best mens men's and women's teams in the Rocky Mountain Region will be eligible to compete at the College National Finals held this year at Lake Charles Louisiana June 19 The president of the Rodeo Club is Doug Dean This is Doug's second year at His major is Welding Doug said I think we have a areal areal areal real good chance even though we got off to a bad start All of the guys have a lot of try and spirit going into the rest of the season not to mention that tha t twe we have a lot of top hands Doug is a seasoned bareback bareback bareback bare bare- back rider and hopes to be one of those going to Louisi Louisi- ana The other club officers are Bobby Jensen Vice President President President Pres Pres- ident and Rochelle Hiatt Secretary Bobby is studying electronics and works the bull riding event for the club while Rochelle is majoring in Commercial Art She barrel races for the club The adviser of the Rodeo Club is Neal Wood Neal is also a welding instructor tor here at and somehow somehow some some- how finds time to do both The club will keep those interested interested in in- teres ted advised weekly of the results of each rodeo w ww cr V wv v r r Viva r ra rs a s 7 k y kf 14 N a o kr l F 53 y z f 44 w h. h w at o w h R G ru a- a uG C Cr r j u uJ J ii EE W f o I it I lJ 4 5 is one of the major malor rodeo events that rodeo team members will participate in r s sz z ICk I- I Ck r S H r rit it K 4 r l j 1 r A 4 x I G ti I Some of the 20 members of the Rodeo Club who will be in competition during March April and May IJ |
