Show Bird saved from foul p play By Pauline Denise Bischoff is not in the habit of stopping on the way to to rescue wounded wounded- pheasants but one day she did Ironically it was the day before re the opening of pheasant season Early that morning as Denise was pedalling her bicycle to the bus stop she noticed a brown object lying in the road As she came closer she discovered a live hen that had been hit by bya a vehicle The bird could not walk so Denise cradled it safely in her arm rm and proceeded to the bus stop As she passed a home where a man was coming out to get his newspaper she asked his opinion about the pheasants pheasant's injuries The man didn't think the tle bird had a good chance for recovery and offered to put it out of its misery Denise declined his offer to help thanked him and boarded the bus to school she stopped at a veterinary clinic It was determined that the pheasant had no broken bones and that its injuries consisted of bruised eyes and a concussion Denise felt very relieved to know that the bird could be saved Now she had t to find a home for the pheasant since some of her family were allergic to feathers A friend is caring for forthe forthe forthe the bird until it is well again About twenty minutes late that day Denise walked into English class carrying a brown box with a pheasant in it What a contrast the many hunters preparing for the first day of pheasant season and Denise's compassionate effort to save one bird |
