Show P- P PWe We t. t Student r J F FF r F lu It is understood that all opinions views ideas etc that appear i in Points West are not necessarily the views of any other person except the theauthor theauthor theauthor author of those views and opinions They a lone alone will be held responsible for all repercussions Dear Fred When I 1 was 12 I 1 began protesting the Vie man War in high school I 1 founded the 1st and only school ecological organization and sat on a county commission trying to convince third generation r ranchers ers that there was a aneed aneed t need for environmental awareness I J represented several several several sev sev- eral organizations in the student body senate and nd I 1 was one of three individuals that openly supported McGovern When I I. graduated I I. went to college and joined NOW and was invited to join the Historical al Honor Society Soon after I 1 dropped out of of college to support a spiritual leader not well known around these parts in the fight against in hopes of building a better world After a year of of traveling traveling traveling trav trav- eling from Washington DC D.C. to Berkeley campus fasting singing nging s at t peace pe ce demons demonstrations II tra-f tra tr and arid passing out literature literature liter liter- I came to Salt Lake City After settling here I realized that ap apart rt from Irom my dogmatic dedication for Causes I had nothing to offer society to make my ideas valid so I 1 went went- back to school to develop myself into a valuable commodity I came to and became excited when I discovered red redtha that tha t the college had a official cohesive-official s student t body senate and offices When the controversy about whether should be on the Board of Regents came up I rushed to the College Center to rally round the flag with fellow classmates I sat sat- with wide eyes as I witnessed witness d' d the student body officers trade th the microphone and contradict contradict contradict contra contra- dict each other and display ego clashes I 1 left l ft the rally a bit stunned but I decided there was still another year and I 1 had received word from froma a fellow on the bus that the candidate for VP V.P. Publications Publications Publications was going to rip that school apart During that year of the B. B of R. R rally I began to notice the offices had no real issues but more they were using their positions positions positions to set up an elite group to mend feelings of frustrations frustrations frustrations because they weren't popular in high school The next years year's elections came up and I 1 saw that one of the same fellows from the B. B of R. R Rally was running for president of the student body I decided to postpone my school involvement and dir- dir wi ou It next J Page ge PW Foy t Ml N wIIt W- W g. g 7 my energies outside of Though I haven't made a abig abig abig big noise I have reported several businesses to the Better Business Bureau including including in in- eluding Mountain Fuel and I have protested to different state organizations for what I If f felt were unethical practices and believe it or or not I did get reactions reactions- I would go so far as asto asto asto to say results The point is Fred that silence isn't always apathy I cant can't bring myself to believe that eating six trays of jello at atthe atthe atthe the Jello Jump or submitting my name to the Computer Hop is going to improve the economy or even put the troubled conscience of a rape victims victim's mind at ease Fred I Ican Ican Ican can understand now the lack of activity response distresses distress distress- es you but if its apathy youre you're concerned about walk down Telegraph Ave in Berkeley and try to help a off ff the sidewalk or better yet try to even talk to some of the promising students on Berkeley Berkeley Berkeley Ber Ber- keley campus either individual individual dual will give you the same response Anyway what goes around comes around just pick up a history book Keep beating your drum Fred you'll eventually eventually eventually even even- have your revolution believe it or not I support your concern and I hope you'll continue to fight even after theres there's no one to take your picture picure or talk about you Sincerely C. L COOMBS She has put forth many hard and trying hours to support our Rodeo Club of which I might add is is' the only intramural sport on campus Cindy is one of the few that that- carries true school spirit To ro know her is to know what qualities make up a fine outstanding outstanding outstanding out out- standing person I know there has been others to support the Rodeo Club but with Cindy Ive I've seen the tears the frustration the fortitude the loyalty WE LIKE YOU CINDY COOMBS YOUVE YOU'VE GOT SPUNK Cindy doesn't stop with all these neat things in just the Rodeo Club she's been a terrific coed right from the start for she's always been there when weve we've needed to tobe tobe tobe be encouraged on to endure to the end which I might add inthis inthis in inthis this case is only the beginning beginning beginning begin begin- ning with new careers for many of us WED WE'D ALL JUST LIKE TO SAY CINDY YOURE YOU'RE SUPER SUPER SUPER SU SU- PER All of her friends and acquaintances wish her the me best always and a great big HAPPY JUNE BIRTHDAY BUNS C.
