Wilde w 1 A 4 Sports Reporter It was a long wait nine games to be exact but we were finally able to tor r experience what others have heralded as a very avery exciting brand of basketball In 4 their very first home stand of the season the Bruins were victorious in two out of three games The first of a three game home stand that took place at Murray High in front of approximately enthusiastic fans the first year Bruins fell short by just 3 points 80 77 to Ricks College r A i The game started with the Bruins scoring coring first but the lead would change hands throughout the course of the game At one point the Bruins were up seven points but Ricks came ame back and took a ten point lead The last five minutes were the most ex exciting as the gritty Bruins slowly chipped away at the lead using a full court press and the fast break With a little more than a minute left a lob attempt from point guard Ronn McMahon to forward George Hardin missed its j mark and Ricks took advantage and the game Both teams had four players in double figures Trent Shippen of Ricks led all scores with 23 followed by Jt Greg Housekeeper who had 21 Gerald Riddick added 19 and Clint Bean Be n put put put-in in 15 15 The only ot other er player from Ricks to score was Hal Schofield with 2 The Bruins were led by Mike Taylors 21 and George Hardins 18 Tony Cannon and Jerry Sommers contributed 10 each Joel Marr put in 7 followed by Jeff Hanke with 4 Darren Dean and John Hatch each added 3 |
