At Utah Tech the three credits class in Beginning starts in winter quarter Under the prefix COM there will be two sections available one on 1 J Mondays and Wednesdays from pm p.m. 4 pm p.m. the other on Mondays from pm p.m. p.m. pm p.m. Instructor is Suellen Jo Bahleda a West Valley City resident with certification as an Associate II Interpreter in the state of Utah She holds a BA in theater tleater arts and is secretary for the Utah Registry of Interpreters for forthe forD forthe the D Deaf Mrs Bahleda has worked for the College in interpreting classes and meetings assemblies and tutoring sessions as needed for hearing impaired students Additionally she has conducted a workshop for faculty and staff on deaf needs and awareness It is anticipated that Spring quarter will have beginning and intermediate and Summer quarter will include an Advanced class aswell as aswell aswell well as both other classes The instructor says the initial class will include some lectures as well as preliminary vocabulary viewing of some videotapes signed songs and games Obviously on hands-on experience is important both in class and private practice The Winter quarter will start in January Anyone interested in the class should make immediate application as indications show a number of people plan to sign up and get themselves involved in a second language Incidentally among the more frequently used traditional languages in the United States are English Spanish and German |
