Show Computer Graphics Demonstrates Talents Instructor States r y w jiw j p Wt Wr I Q j J w P v V p 1 n t Preston Hunter directs students in in art of computer graphics L by Cleta Spratt V Preston Hunter serves as coordinator for the Pre-Engineering Pre Department and is in charge of engineering math and computer science Hunter holds a Masters degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Wisconsin Madison As Asan Asan Asan an employee o of Bechtel Power Corporation he was one of those responsible L for the design ai d- d construction of the Arkansas Power and Light nuclear power plant He also designed safety related modification of several other nuclear power plants including Humbolt Bay Nuclear Unit II in iQ California which was retrofitted to v to-v meet more stringent earthquake safety standards Hunter developed computer systems to assist human operators to monitor and control the Arkansas plant He also analyzed safety consequences similar to what in the Soviet Union with the nuclear reactor at Chernobyl He has published over 20 papers on nuclear waste management engineering methods and safety consequences Charles Bytheway has charge of mechanical and civil engineering He holds a Masters degree in mechanical engineering Bytheway dev developed loped new techniques in logic and function analysis and resented papers on these and other subjects throughout the US U.S. He has participated in many national and international workshops as an instructor Ted Dannison serves as electrical engineering coordinator Dennison earned his Masters degree in Electrical engineering from the University of Santa Clara He designed microwave systems for Hewlett Packard and later owned and managed a firm specializing in hi energy c conservation systems for industrial and commercial buildings These coordinators have responsibility for the four tracks required for the AS degree working closely with the University of Utah r arid and Weber State College Students may transfer to a year 4 school as a junior upon satisfactory completion of coursework at This program completes all general education requirements Weber State has developed a tentative plan to bring their entire program to to enable computer science students to earn their Bachelors degree The programs have h v received receive I excellent l t tand and enthusiastic support form Utah's other year four-year schools as well had demonstrated its capabilities to provide students with witha a quality education while keeping educational expenses down Class size is limited to approximately 30 students in the program and this provides an important benefit Students receive one-on-one one attention and this helps them to succeed Due to limited teaching facilities year four-year schools typically have o over oyer er students per class so there exists a preference to concentrate on upper division students Using facilities gives the larger schools more flexibility Completion of year 2 pre- pre engineering Associate of Science Degree gives the student more flexibility regarding the options available to him after grads ie i.e. immediate employment or enrollment in a year 4 institution Some who enter the program are ata ata at ata a high level of and find that able to progress quickly toward their goals while other others are unable to m meet et the upgraded acceptance requirements at the University of Utah A minimum of college algebra is now required to enter their engineering program Other students may need remedial classes to bring their level of preparation up to par offers greater flexibility to lower division students by y reducing the pressure is prepared to take students at their current level and help them to complete the pre-engineering pre requirements |
