B Smith MS W. W Some of the services provided provided provided pro pro- vided include a career information center resource file library seminars seminars seminars semi semi- nars and support groups Contrary to its name the Women's Center isn't just for women or just for students students students stu stu- dents at Both men and women women women wo wo- wo- wo men students and students non-students participate in the events sponsored by the center Smith believes men have just as many problems as women wo- wo women women wo wo- men do in coping with school work divorce relationships career and th f various changes people make in their lives But she says Men just dont don't talk about their problems as much Sm Smith Smith th also believes mens men's attitudes are changing and they are more likely now than just a few years ago to openly discuss their problems and feelings feelings feelings-a a change she sees as beneficial The Women's W Center sponsors two support groups group One for women only is called s surviving alone Many of the women in this group are widowed widowed widowed wi wi- wi- wi dowed or dj divorced mothers who are re r returning to school l. l to upgrade their working skills to enable them to support their families In the coed group both sexes are able to get the perspective of the theother theother theother other side and frequently receive insights that are not possible with a group of same sex members Smith says says both of these groups groups' will begin meeting soon The starting starting starting start start- ing date for the Surviving Alone group will be Tuesday Oct 9 at pm p.m. and may be changed to a different da day or time if the group agrees A beginning date for the coed coed coed co co- co- co ed group will be announced later Smith has arranged a series of weekly programs mini-programs offering practical suggestions for personal growth which will be presented by bythe bythe bythe the Mental Health Association in hi Utah The first presentation will deal with building male female relationships relationships relationships re re- re- re and will vill be held on Thursday October 11 from 12 noon 1 pm p.m. in the College C Center Admission is free and everyone is invited to attend The Women's Center is located in inthe inthe inthe the southwest south west corner of the lower level of the College Center and is open from am a.m. m. m to pm p.m. daily For more information on these and other programs drop in inor inor inor or call Alice Smith at u |
