| Show I A Look Back at S Sports orts by Kevin Riley The 82 1981 1981 year almost over a look back at everything everything ever ever- usually will happ happen n. n I thought Id I'd try sports sport The initial year under new director Dennis Im I'm awesome at everything McGarvey was filled with good things to remember Flag football belonged to Bad Company Dave pave Ballard was one of the best if not the best players player's I have ever seen perform on the field Both offensively and defensively defensive defensive- ly he shined leaving no choice in o our r mind that he was the of football Basketball was a strange year with F- F Troop F-Troop zapping all the weaker teams in their division to togo togo togo go undefeated while two teams the Bruins and the faculty team Beyond Help stood stood poised posed along with Sidney Sinners right be De- hind The playoffs brought about the es as F- F Troop finally met a team who could stand up with them and thanks to Mike Crawford Ralph and Junya Wendover knocked over F- F Troop F-Troop and made it to the championship championship champion champion- ship bracket along with Beyond Help and the Bruins A drawing was held and Wendover got the bye which meant whoever won between Help and the he Bruins would have to play two games in the same night The Bruins spanked Beyond Help then with an hour rest trounced Wendover Wendover Wendover Wen Wen- dover to take the title The WArriors gave the league its in the form of Kevin Ford a quick little with all al the guard moves Softball started out good the middle sucked then finally it was over The Silver Bullets were the team to b beat at all year long It seemed they were always always al always al- al ways behind early but stormed on to win in the end The only time this didn't happen was in the title game against the eventual champion Rip Rip- pers They got down by hy three and were nev never r able to get the big tig inning that they usually strive on A for softball l had not been chosen at press time but I think a might b be Gary Barmore th the slick fielding heavy hitting center fielder of the Bull Bul Bul- l lets ts Among the other othe th events that happened this year are defense of our junior college championship h ship tn the ACUL competition was the major feat Since all of us who are around sports know snow of McGarvey boasting I thought I t would o ld close out this article and this sports year with comment on the part he played with the faculty basketball team Beyond Help McG McGarvey said and I quote I had to carry them all year they were heavy but I was up to it Have a nice summer |
