| Show LT UT T C Counselor Hits R Road o a d With School Orientation Show Utah Tech is participating in the wide state-wide post-high post school orientation program Its It's sponsored sponsored sponsored spon spon- by the Utah State Board of Education Division of Instructional Instructional Instructional Support Representatives of the states state's major colleges and universities travel to many of the some 94 high schools school's in Utah carrying the message of their institution to interested students Utah Tech is plugging for vocational tech education The program at the school is under the direction of the dean of students office Larry Christensen Christensen Christensen Chri- Chri stensen admissions counselor has the job of visiting the high schools He takes with him a slide presentation a suitcase full of printed matter and an explanation explanation explanation for all the questions about the future of vocational-technical vocational education Mr Christensen admits that some of his class sessions are small High school students are given their choice of which institution institution institution to investigate He says the total importance of a workable education has not sunk deep enough yet in the minds of high school students their parents and high school counselors Mr Christensen says the statistics about 80 per cent of the jobs of the state requiring less than a year four-year degree have spurred interest interest interest in in- terest in Utah Tech Mr Christensen indicates that students wish a message relayed to their former high schools Mr lVIr Christensen says that students students students stu stu- dents wishing to relay a message to their former high schools sh should uld contact him He says most teachers and high school counselors are interested in the progress their cormer cornier students are making He also says it may maybe maybe maybe be just what a student needs to help him make a choice between an academic education and a vocational-technical vocational education If you like Utah Tech make sure your friends know about your wise choice |
