| Show Hes He's Oldest Of Students On Campus By BRUCE KITCHENS Its never too late to learn Geor George e Parks was enrolled in his junior year of high school at Tooele when he quit That was in 1919 48 years ago That's more mope than most students at Trade Tech are old Hes He's 65 George is the oldest student at Trade Tech He enrolled in the Electronics class and will graduate in June from the year two-year course So far he hasn't missed a single class has not been tardy once and therefore is one of the few v students with a perfect attendance record After George quit school in ill 1919 he went to work vork for Anaconda Copper Co Tooele smelter where ha Ita worked for 25 years He suffered lead poisoning poisoning- at the smelter and was forced to leave that job He moved to Meeker l Colo and ranched for awhile There he had a stroke The doctors told Georges George's family he would not live But George Parks had other ideas This happened happen happen- ed two years ago George had heard of Trade Tech but the docs does told him to retire But he didn't like that idea and that's why he is here at Trade Tech He plans to open a small Radio and TV repair shop at Monticello Utah after graduation George says he owns the finest saddle horse in Southern Utah and that his riding hunting and fishing keep him young |
