two weeks before making nearly four inches of rainfall in the month of july the farmers farmer are surely happy over the change in their prospects and are arc busy weeding and plowing the storm has her home lucy adams dana and her sister florence galbraith 7 were there to see her off mrs locke moved to michigan when she was married about 30 years ago and her children were born bom there but she came back to blanding several years to care for her father mr benjamin F redd after her mother died since his death a little over a year ago she has been a companion of mrs caroline redd and has lived at her home before mrs lockes departure there were several dinners and parties in her honor thursday evening the forum club entertained in her honor at the home of mrs caroline redd friday the ben F redd descendants had a chicken dinner at the home of frank and theresa redd that night eva locke geniveve holyoak florence galbraith spent the night with lucy adams and prepared prepa red their breakfast together saturday sat u r d a y morning saturday evening mrs airs ada rigby niece of mrs locke honored the female members of the family at a beefsteak dinner at her home mr a and nd mrs delbert redd were also in attendance and he thoroughly enjoyed himself with all the women mrs locke spent a couple of weeks in detroit last month and her two sons and their families were so eager to have her sta stay ly that she decided to go she will be greatly missed by her family ly and friends in blanding GROUP LEFT HITE MONDAY ON TRIP TO LEES FERRY two boatmen frank wright and his son willard left hite nonday monday with the following people to go to lees ferry miss patricia mccormick from chicago and lynda lyman howard hurst and lyle and klea johnson from blanding the trip takes eight days and takes them past the hole in the rock and they stop to climb up and explore it the rainbow bridge is another high light ANOTHER GROUP COMPLETES RIVER TRIP TO PIERCES FERRY AT HEAD OF LAKE MEAD frank wright and his three boatmen willard kenth frost and don smith arrived at pierces ferry at the head of lake mead wednesday july 29 with a group of enthusiastic passengers they were met by mrs dora wright and mrs gwen smith who had traveled from blanding for the occasion mr and mrs jim riggs and al mr r and mrs frank wright t were hosts and hostesses at a banquet july 30 at a hotel at boulder city in honor of the group and their friends and special guests there were 30 in the party one of the special features of the evening was the presentation of pins to those who had completed all of the river trips the token is called a rat pin and is of 14 karat gold with a picture t ure of a rat rowing a boat those to receive them are considered tull full fledged river rats the were pre monticello and gwen smith and willard wright blanding others on the trip were miss ann mckinney and lt col william mathews uncle to billy beehan miss katie lee a television star at hollywood did a great deal ot of the entertaining during the evening she had written ritten w a song to the th river rats called danger river and sang it as she played her guitar she has recently taken a trip down the river with jim riggs in a power boat incidentally you dont earn a pin unless you take the trip in a row boat mr air and mrs frank wright mr and mrs don smith and mr air and mrs kent frost stopped in hinckley utah on the way home to see the wrights new grand daughter willard came with earl wright who had gone from blanding with the truck to bring the boats home JOAN HEER MARRIES BILL PILLING mrs clint bronson end and her daughter josephine smith and margaret halls drove to drag gerton to witness the marriage of joan heer and bill pilling of price joan is the daughter of mr air and mrs earnest heer formerly of monticello bishop allred of Drag gerton officiated in a beautiful home ceremony the bride was radiant in a pink suit she carried gardenias her matron of honor was sally mahan the brides maid and best man were brother and sister of the groom sixty guests were in attendance refreshments were served after the ceremony the parents of the bride are honoring the young couple with a reception aug 5 the day before a shower will be given the bride by her friends the newly weds will make their home in colorado among those attending the fiesta in durango were mr air and mrs
