weekend in provo with friends mrs mary stevens accompanied him and will go on to st george to attend a rowley reunion francis and gwen jones are rejoicing lc ing over the arrival of their eor new third grandchild the little girl susan mae arrived arrive d at the home of their daughter peggy very recently her parents are mr and mrs ollie hunter mr and mrs fred halliday their two children deanne and mike and mamie adams met the train at thompson utah one day last week they met melvin adams returning from salt lake after spending several days at the intermor intermountain buntain clinic at that city mr and mrs shumway visited their son kerry in denver last week he is in the air force and ha has 3 recently been stationed in that city corine helquist accompanied mr and mrs shumway mr and mrs arah shumway and mr and mrs devar shumway returned last week from a trip to peache nev where they spent a few days with mr and mrs harold hammo hammond nd mrs hammond was the former shannon shumway a dau daughter ahter of Nuin mr and mrs arah shumway way they got acquainted with a six month old granddaughter whom they had never seen they attended I 1 the funeral of harolds father which was the main reason for making the trip at this particular time gayla pollock kp who lives at the home of mrs grace shumway received a brief visit from her father joe pollock tuesday he flew to blanding from his work at richfield utah I 1 quite recently miss pollock had a visit from her mother and her brother of ely nev after spending most of the last week working at the temple at manti mr and mrs earl wright and mr and mrs dee black went on to salt lake to visit their parents the blacks spent friday with dees mother elzada black who has been very ill in past months but bia is much with mrs wrights parents mr improved the wrights stay stayed ed and mrs james carroll mr carroll observed his eighty second birthday monday march 3 gordon redd motored to salt lake the middle of the week to have some dental work done he was accompanied as far as provo with shirley and glenna lee palmer kenneth Sh errman a s son on of dr and mrs effie Sh errman an has s recently answered a call ito th the e mission field he sailed last I 1 week from new york city on the queen elizabeth his mission is to africa mr and mrs vint redd and mrs preston redd were dinner guests at the home of mr and mrs edway redd in monticello saturday evening preston expected to be there but was stuck in the snow out on elk mountain he went with others to his mine in red canyon friday and expected to be r right agh t back in the meantime the snow began blowing and the road filled up until they were unable to get back until sunday night edith young and D eau e a u Ps n adams were the representatives representative from blanding to attend 4 11 classes at the agricultural college at logan last week they went in a group headed by thelma a walton with workers from other towns in the county the morning classes at the school took up 4 H work in general but in the afternoon specialized work was given mrs johnson attended the cooking classes and mrs young the sewing they enjoyed very much their opportunity bevan wright has joined the air force and is in denver waiting 1 for his assignment he enlisted several weeks week ago but had to wait until there was a place for him mr and mrs frank wright had word last week of the arrival of their second grandson in california mr and mrs ted wright are the proud parents the new arrival came the day his older brother was fifteen months old mr and mrs lars anderson spent the weekend in salt lake on business and enjoying a short visit with relatives WEATHER WEATHER WEATHER weve really had the weather in our blanding town this year you cant tell when its going to blow or snow or just be clear the wind blows hard and chilly while frost in melts alts beneath your feet you encounter ice and mud and snow while going down the street on the south side of a building in 9 purple aurple violets bloom while on the north its different large piles of snow still loom some days are bright and then by night its all been changed and ii its s not at all the way the weather prophets have arranged the drivers of ore trucks or the men whore feeding stock have had real difficulties and to them its quite a shock when they think the roads are frozen hard and snows been scraped away that their wheels sink in the mire mire cause its thawed too much that day the ch children ildren track in loads of dirt while abile mothers scold and clean im sure looking tor for the day its summer dry and green the winter really has seemed long to some its been a pain but it wont be many months before were wishing hard for rain joe and marion nielson enjoyed a weekend visit from their daughter virginia nielson miss nielson is attending the brigham young university this year grant and helen bayles have gone back to wellington where he is feeding cattle this winter after a brief s tay stay at their home in blanding alma redd left for kansas mon monday da to look after the sheep he is is wintering he expects to be gone about a week mr and mrs donald black drove to salt lake last week when donald was called to ft douglas for his physical examination for th the e se service r vice they were accompanied by mrs myrtle hunt end and mrs maurine rogers mr black brought them back in a 1951 kaiser that he acquired while he was gone mr and mrs lee guymon spent several days in blanding last week but returned to salt lake saturday several of keith blacks brothers spent the weekend with him in grand junction keith is on a mission to the western states and is stationed at grand junction at the present time members of the D john rogers family have gone to mesa ariz to a reunion it is a reunion of the group that settled lehi a little town a few miles from mesa there are only a few of the pioneers left and D john rogers is one of them his children mr and mrs clarence rogers mr and mrs john D rogers and emma burnham are accompanying him to the celebration A report of it will be given when they return ax uarl i I 1 CORPORAL REX GARDNER son of mr and mrs hugh gardner of colusa calusa departed friday for salt lake city accompanied by mrs gardner for a brief visit with relatives before rex leaves for boston to fly to turkey on a three year military mission he has been home for two weeks from fort hood tex where he was a replacement clerk he was the one chosen from his company for the special mission to turkey rex a former blanding man I 1 left blanding two years ago and moved with his mother to colusa calusa calif his mother was former aUy employed at the monticello mere before her marriage |
