| Show BLUFF NEWS by josephine pehrson the horse race run at the ian landing d strip by cottonwood wash on sunday afternoon was the mo most st lex exciting citing bit of entertainment th that al has happened in bluff for quite a while dick butt ran his three year old colt which has been trained only in the past three months against a four year old horse which looked to be well trained owned by ellis taylor of cortez colorado I at the start of the race dicks I 1 horse tried to buck so he had a poor start but had the lead and the cortez horse closed distance near the finish of the race it ended in a tie there was a crowd of spectators cars and trucks lined most of the runway and navajos cavajos with their saddle horses wagons and teams took up one section it was a colorful scene and the beautiful weather made it a perfect day for a race the general opinion here in bluff is that it was a good race and we want to congratulate dick for his courage and confidence in seeing how his horse would run the dance held saturday night was a success excellent music was furnished by four blanding musicians everyone seemed to have a good time mr air and mrs claude claud e powell are visiting at the home of mr powells mother mrs ida powell for a few days on monday mr air powell took his mother mrs airs F A nielson and mrs jennie dartoni barton to monticello to spend the day visiting friends and relatives week end guests from out of town included mr air and mrs james hunt from mexican hat at the john hunt home mr air and mrs herbert husky archie and bud husky and milma from dove creek at the home of I 1 mr and mrs airs clydes bennett mr and mrs airs elmer martin and their sons mr air and mrs verne wilson ellis taylor ruth ann byers dorsa gosnell from cortez and arand mrs john wilson from monticello at the duck buck ali son hoin home e miss wanda hunt of blanding at the iva hatch home |
