Show A music center I 1 Is the question man alart cannot live by bread babad i alone food for the soul is also needed MUSIC one of the most satisfying of the spiritual foods is the desire of the people of monticello for their children and themselves at least that is what nhat was gathered from conversations with some of tile the townspeople knowing the joy and satis fac tion that music brings I 1 dreamed of ways to help make music for all a reality in this community i not everyone is fortunate fortunah tunal le enough to be able to go away fo for musical training so training should be r given here at a nominal charge lessons in how to listen to music for greater enjoyment voice training piano lessons musical interpretation pre tation through the dance and a complete little music store a place where everything musical could be secured with prices at salt lake city levels but my friends said this community is too sparsely settled to support a specialty shop you wont make any money no I 1 wouldn t make money in fact I 1 thinking of making money just making expenses plus the pleasure and satisfaction of bringing ringing such musical knowledge and abilities as I 1 possess to this community would suffice of course it takes money for postage freight advertising housing light heat equipment etc for such a venture but if the people of this community would support this undertaking by purchasing their musical instruments such as pianos ra radios dios and radio graphs from the music center my dream could become a reality some of you kno know V of the search for a suitable location for the center A few have seen the plans of this dream building with its provision for concerts recitals etc and a booth where the kids could come and listen to music to their hearts content this center would be called the san juan music center because it was hoped it would meet the continued on page four san juan music center continued from page 1 musical needs and desires of the whole county last spring a small beginning was made toward this goal contacts were made with music publishers instrument manufacturers and record distributors and franchises secured then the center was opened in temporary quarters A few weeks ago a truck from provo loaded with pianos came in to our community and was so successful in disposing of them that tha now I 1 am beginning to wonder of my idea was just wishful thinking or it it possible that the advertisements verti appearing in this paper continuously for the last four months have passed unnoticed do you know that the center can sell you practically any piano of your choice at prices as low as any music store in or out of the state do you know that the center sells the best radios and phonographs no manufactured thelca the RCA VICTOR for the next two weeks the center will have a sale an ad vertise verti nent appears elsewhere in this paper if the sale is successful a portion of the ogden building on south main street next to the dentists office will be remodeled and occupied as the Center until the permanent home of tile the san juan music center can be built melva decker |
