Show blanding column by MARGIE H LYMAN SPORTS CARNIVAL 1 Und erthe direction of the utah centennial sports committee the san juan county sports carnival carniv a 1 will be held in landing at ahe h san juan high school grounds on friday may 9 this program of ii i sports is to be for the grade students in the county up and in I 1 eluding the ath grade the tha puri 1 1 pose of the program pr is to promote 1 friendly relations between persons and communities in the county school will be dismissed for all students in those grades grad es there will be a hopscotch hop scotch and jack tournament for the girls giri and sand a marble tournament for the boys there will be track events for both boys and girls ea eash each ch school will conduct its own tournament and the and 2nd and place winners in ill each grade group will be elig able to enter the san juan tournament which will begin at 9 am may etli all events for the groups 1 to 3 and hopscotch hop scotch marbles and jack tournaments will be held from 9 to 12 lunch will be served and track and field events will begin at 1 pm all competition is on an individual basis so that the smaller schools will have just as much chance as the larger ones please come an and d support this program A detailed pro program ram has been mailed to each school in the county it is sincerely hoped that every school will participate and that this can be made mada a yearly event MIA closes seasons work tuesday night april 29 the blanding ward MIA held their closing social in the Ammu hall the main feature of the e evening was social dancing A program was presented during daring the evening and light refreshments were served the grayson ward completed their years activity last thursday night with an out door party A large crowd gathered round bon bon fires and participated ir in games music and stunts lunch was served at the close of the program both organizations feel that they have had a very successful years work in the MIA |
