| Show college training for girls 1 I want my daughter to have two years of college a price man said to me the other day but I 1 see no need of her to graduate from college by the time she could graduate from college or before she will be getting married and never use the training received at school and well get noth nothing irig back for our expense some other parents think that college education for girls is not essential but they want their sons to become educated in my opinion there are several reasons why a cm college education e is important for every young lady of normal intelligence and abilities and in some ways it is more important for them than for young men here are some of the reasons for this opinion 1 since mothers are with their children much more than are the fathers the rn should be well trained to guide teach and inspire their children to the best in life surely a woman who has studied will understand the world and her children better than she who has not good judgment and leadership do not come to women I 1 just because they become mothers every bit of training and study will help the intelligent woman 2 women are taking an increasingly Frea crea singly important part in solving the problems of government and of society they vote hold office I 1 listen to propaganda and I 1 make decisions almost as frequently as do men therefore they need as much training and experience as do the men if they are to make wise decisions the welfare of our nation and of the whole world now depends upon an intelligent and educated public men and women alike 3 the soundest investment a woman can make is to invest in an education it is the best insurance a woman could possibly have havel against want and humiliation in i case of widowhood the average man carries not more than 1000 life insurance and but few indeed carry as much as how many years could a widow and her children live on the proceeds from such insurance but we all seen the widow who had been trained to teach to nurse to work in offices etc go back tol to respectable work after her husbands I 1 death or illness and make an adequate income for the support I 1 and education of her family money left from insurance w will i 11 soon be spent but no one can rob us of our education and of its great benefits of course id say give your daughters at least two years of college education and send thern them to carbon college to get it but dont stop there do your best to see that they graduate from college 1 1 AARON E JONES I 1 president carbon college |
