Show monticello ward news by maxine lyman the relief society party held at I 1 devil canyon on tuesday when the relief society ladies of the blanding and monticello wards met for an outing was a big success the rain we feared might spoil things stayed way away a and the day was as nice as could be hoped for A good crowd from each ward was in attendance potluck pot luck was shared by the monticello ladies while the blanding members ate the lunch they had prepared in groups from all reports the food i was in abundance and more than delicious after everyone had all i she could eat they crowded i around the outdoor stage and enjoyed a joint program sister marian G nielson president of the blanding relief society presided and introduced sister nene perkins president of the monticello relief society who led the group in community singing and gave a short speech of welcome the program was as follows a boys quartet from blanding under the direction of mamie adams sang four songs in perfect harmony to the delight of the entire audience they were ramon black reed jones nelson jones and the son of marian jones sister rogers of blanding gave a reading proving that women dont have as easy a life as some men think the singing mothers of monticello hummed mother machree to the reading of the words by sister marie redd elda black and dora wright of blanding sang two duets accompanied by dora on her florence johnson and le lia johnson played harmonica duets accompanied by dora A humorous reading about the trials in the army as a private was given by edith lyman of the monticello ward and kept everyone laughing and crying A skit rolling home was given by the monti sello singing mothers after which S the radio station blanding S relief society went on the air it was conducted by alene ma may Y who was assisted by carol lyman josephine bayles marva laws j and marian jones and caused i much laughter now the day Is over was sung by y the monticell llo S singing mothers after which sister ruth redd stake relief society president offered the benediction everyone voiced the wish that such an outing can become an annual affair the relief society officers of both wards wish to extend their thanks and appreciation to everyone who helped in in is success any way to make the outing a sacrament meeting sunday eve I 1 ning opened d with the song true to the faith vint lyman offered the opening prayer the junior choir sang jesus once of ru humble m birth joel norton and virgil virg il eastin had charge of the sacrament wendell frost just home f from rom the battle f front was the first speaker the junoir choir asang sang sweet Is the work wm win I 1 E king and wm win C walton each spoke briefly after which theaon the congregation gre gation aaion sang god be with you june pehrson offered the benediction monday evening members of the junior choir had their closing social soi I 1 I 1 at the church li house use due to so many being away for the summer months the choir is dispersing until fall garnes games were I 1 played and everyone seemed to have a good time were wondering though where all the boys grandi were after the games a grand I 1 march followed by all the ice cream and cake the kids could eat climaxed the evening the choir officers wish to take this opportunity I 1 to thank all those who helped in any way with the party j the missionary book of mormon j class met monday evening at the home of mr and mrs lloyd W misner twenty eight were present the lesson was given by harry randall and ray christensen and delicious refreshments were served by the hostess |
