| Show important session of san juan county sc 1 ol 01 I board X A er than usual meeting of the san juan school board was held in the school office monday afternoon and evening with all members present mrs garda G adams presiding supt bupt zenos L black and clerk geo M palmer were als also present action was taken ps s follows A motion to pay a balance of due on expenses of the tha san juan high school L basketball asket ball team for trip to salt lake city was wa carried it was ed tu employ ben acri black as janitor of blanding ela elementary school at a salary x 1000 per year beginning beg nning june I 1 1944 h hes to work half time during ta gunj Ju nj july and august making in g minor repairs and ha veLee school build building ng ready for the fall term with no extra cost to the school beai J action w was as taken regarding salaries to be paid to hers the maximum to be 2000 for high school teachers and 1800 for elementary InEn tary grade te teachers achels supt bupt black was authorized to contact the school district in charge of the colorado school located in the arado district to see acif some operative cooperative co agreement carf can be worked out whereby children living on jn the utah side can attend that school and if so the san juan i school cadi ol 01 board will dan contribute to the cost of the school and transportation of students in line with the present policy discussion followed concerning the consolidation of schools inthe in the county A motion was made by geo A hurst jr seconded by evvie B stevens and carried as follows that the board of education consolidate san juan county schools naming particularly the horsehead and ucolo bucolo schools to be consolidated with monticello that the old la sal school be consolidated with the la sal school and that building be b e disposed of and the unit closed out that the senior high students of monticello dlo be furnished bus service and transported to the san juan high school that the bluff school be closed and the stu students lents be transported to the blanding school also that the summit point andt and iger hill school buildings be k used sed of those voting in favor of the motion were garda G adams geo A hurst jr and evvie B stevens those voting against the motion were lee L brady and joseph W adams |
