ray hurst left saturday to enter the mission home for a short period before going into the central states mission he was honored at a ward dancing party friday night A short musical program was given president harris made a few remarks followed by a response by mr hurst bishop rogers encouraged the young people to contribute to the missionary fund the service sunday evening was under the direction of the ward sunday school the theme wa waa the preservation and the bringing forth of the book of mormon it was beautifully portrayed in pageantry and song about peo ule participated very inspirational baptismal services were held sunday after sunday school A group of eight year old boys and girls was baptized also mavis larmer who came hereto here to live a few weeks ago was baptized training in in january 43 he took his pre flight training at st marys cal and his secretary training at pasco wash then went to corpus christi for advance training he graduated nov 27 and is is now an ensign in the U S naval reserve he is returning as an instructor instruct oi ot in the air corps he was married may 3rd ard to bernice king at port townsend she has been able to go with him since then his sister grace came home with them to enjoy his short furlough she works at men in salt lake she expects to come home again for christmas mrs melvin adams returned after visiting a month in salt lake city with her daughters audrey and doris she says they have moved to the sorority house at alpha delta pi mamie also visited a few days at cedar city that is where she went to school 25 years ago she met many of her old class mates and friends she also has relatives there allie L platt has been with her husband but returned home last week she says she glad to have to come home but is very glad she has a home to come to her husband has been transferred to washington and that country is too unsettled for her to go to dorman black and jim bugg are home on furlough they have been at camp wolters in texas jim is going back to the same place but dorman will go to maryland they are both in the infantry they have practiced on every kind of fire arms they will leave for thompson sunday to meet the other 12 utah boys and all go back together wilbur rowley has moved into his new home mike gans has bought the house recently owned by aurelia carroll they are fixing it up and will move in soon waldo harvey alma jones and vernon rowley are building onto their homes while aaron harvey has lowered his it was a two story house but is now a flat roofed bungalow mrs bob steele is with her
