Show pioneer settler passes suddenly with the passing of mrs sarah perkins on june 30 at the home of her daughter mrs george F earton barton another of the early pioneers was called from this life to her heavenly rest mrs perkins who until recently lived in salt lake city spent the last few months in san juan county dividing her time by visiting her daughters mrs uriah nielson of bluff mrs A R ly mp ejof blanding and mrs barton t pe me 27 she attended all three ane 0 ne stake conferences held in the monticello church and seemed to be in fine spirits and good health at the time during the night she was taken ill and gradually became worse passing away abut nine agn on wednesday evening funeral services were held on friday afternoon in the church attended by many relatives and friends from monticello blanding and bluff the opening prayer was offered by karl lyman a grandson and the speakers were albert R lyman dan perkins and another early pioneer and close clogs friend of mrs perkins throughout the years mrs emma wood the musical selection included numbers by the ladies quartette of monticello a solo by mrs ruth bailey a vocal trio by mrs bailey her daughter mrs bruce marvel and son max bailey and a violin solo by thomas H evans the closing prayer was offered by wesley norton a grandson by marriage graveside services at the cemetery in monticello were conducted by bishop L frank redd george P F barton dedicated the grave and the family sang the hymn god moves in a mysterious erous wl way ay sarah perkins was born in south wales in the year 1860 she came to america with her family in 1879 and settled with them at cedar city iron county utah shortly after their arrival her father was selected to make the long trek across the state to settle in southeastern utah although miss williams had never held reins rains prior to this move she drove one of the teams the full distance ar continued on page fo four foar ar PIONEER SETTLER 0 continued from page 1 riving some six months late gatei n bluff where the family them the gr themselves she later married benjamin perkins and to this union were born nine daughters and one son about the year 1911 the perkins family moved to monticello surviving mrs perkins are six daughters mrs george F barton mrs albert R lyman mrs uriah nielson mrs edward lyman of blanding and mrs lone ione hunt and mrs minerva duncan of salt SaIt lake city also many grandchildren through direct descend ency and many relatives through marriage who will mourn the passing of this grand old ol d lady who was so well known throughout san juan 1 county and who was loved by everyone for her courageous r it and many accomplishment ing the years of association c 6 gether |
