blue mountains in the winter of 1933 34 he came fr from 1 chicago and returned to his lla S I i after about a year of contact t here her e dear friend I 1 received your letter after a month on its way but that is the way with many things here letters are just as welcome i if they are one week or one month in arriving As you may guess we are pretty busy here most of theotime the time it has been only a little over a week now that we have been on the eight hour day I 1 am staying with seven other fellows in a five room house of course the furnishings nish ings are slim but we do all our own cooking and washing after that a letter or two and the day is gone kam up at each morning usually hit the hay by 1000 an jrr between it is go go go all the time we an dont get any days off so shopping is quite a problem that is if you can even get et what you want I 1 have been trying to get six pairs of heavy cotton work socks for two months things are tough but if we dont win I 1 fear they will be a lot worse I 1 guess we had better make up our minds to sooner che better we are not supposed to write on both sides of the paper due to the censor so in order to save paper I 1 have stopped using paragraphs your typesetter type setter I 1 j angly does this to some extent in 1 1 such cases thank you for your kind offer but mother sends me clippings from her copy and they are generally just what I 1 am interested in if you have a moment to spare some day I 1 would like to know something about the new mill in the county I 1 believe it is just outside of blanding from the oll old settler article I 1 last received it must be quite a mill it so long ago I 1 saw where the old mill had burned are there many of the fellows from there in the service especially are there any serving here on the island I 1 have just been wondering if an advertisement in the paper would help or do you know if it is a useless case I 1 was surprised to receive the address of one of my friends that I 1 have known for many years he is at the schofield barracks about 15 miles from pearl harbor mother sent me the address about three letters back jeannette told me a neighbor across the street is working at the harbor just like myself there are many strange sights d beauties here of course dont have any time to go rh it seeing but still there are earties leau ties just in the workaday work a day schedule we all have I 1 dont be 1 liepp I 1 have ever seen as many rainbows in all my life on the maillar main fard i as I 1 have seen in five months here definitely none more beautiful I 1 have a bicycle and ride to and from work on it also there is a lot of ship to shop runn running ing that is cut down on by using the bike I 1 have made a few trips up th mountain sides after work anc along side roads there certain ll is a beautiful view from almost almos anywhere you may go when the moon is f full ull as it i now nov 21 1 I get homesick a can be to have the family here k W even gb go so far els as
