| Show chester parks dies in california news of the sudden pa pass pas s ng of chester parks son of the rev and mrs willam wiliam E parks of moab was a shock to friends of the family j throughout this part of S san juan county young parks was wasi in ill health for some time and had been sent bent to california about a year ago in the hope of regaining health and strength he suffered a heart attack a few days ago from which he did not recover word was sent to his parents by wire and arrangements arrange menta e made for the body to be ne ato to moab for funeral orvices cervices sr vices on monday the memorial services for chester parks in the baptist chapel at moab on monday were conducted by dr lyons of salt bait lake city assisted by rev howard parry of monticello A scripture was read und and opening prayer offered by dr lyons followed by a quintette of ladies singing lead thou me on rev parry read the psalm and part of the chapter of st john and offered prayer the quintette then sang abide with me dr lyon gave a brief outline of the life the deceased he told his own knowledge of the beautiful unselfish character of chester parks and gave a few f ew outstanding facts in relation to death being the culmination of life a most comforting talk the closing song sun of my soul was followed by the benediction at the cemetery rev parry offered prayer and dr lyons then consigned the body to the grave in welt well chosen and appropriate prop words and pronounced the benediction the well filled church and beautiful floral offerings told of the high esteem and affection felt for this young man the sympathy of all the communities where rev parks has labored the past twelve years goes out to this grief strick en family in their hour of sorrow the following people from san juan attended the funeral mr and mrs ross musselman and mrs arthur carlson from boulder mr and mrs R L wilkin and mr and mrs jake heer of horsehead and rev and mrs howard parry mrs may I 1 L cooper mrs ernest harral and mrs H E blake from monticello chester parks was born barn january 0 10 O 1917 at louisville kentucky here his father was attending a Zhe theological seminary he came to moab with his parents in 1930 when his father was called to the pastorate of the local baptist church a position which he has since held chester graduated from the grand county high school of moab in 1935 and the next year attended linfield college at mcminnville Minn Min ville riville oregon in 1937 he entered westminster college of salt lake city graduating from that institution in 1939 he was secretary in the superintendents office of the grand county school district for about a year resigning when it became necessary that he seek a lower altitude f for or the benefit of his health he is survived by his parents two brothers claude and franlel |
