teacher a record i club was organized thursday of last week margaret anderson was elected president barbara redd vice president and howard redd sec this club is for anyone who wishes to join and learn how to appreciate music it was decided that officers will be elected every six weeks and also that the club will meet each week on thursday night at YEARBOOK STAFF CHOSEN i klyda barton was as editor of he roundup monticello high yearbook margaret anderson ison as assistant editor and maii ilyn lyn hansen business manager the res of the staff will be selected by theae students plans for the yearbook are well under way and it is expected to be the best yearb yearbook jok ever published in the history of SHOP TEACHER ARRIVES mr bradshaw the n new ew shop and ag teacher started his classes beginning monday of this week the boys and girls of the seventh and eighth grade started taking shop and home economics the classes will be held on mondays and wednesdays SIXTH GRADE geography scrap book the he sixth grade is studying about the development of engled england from about the year 1000 we have learned how wales scotland and ireland were added to england we learned about the book and has been studying about the lend lease law we have been studying about the ship pink star being sunk and about the taxes such as the tax on cars taxes on luxuries taxes on income and taxes on travel interesting because be cause it cor con bines the study of history anu geography it is getting close to the time when we will join the red cross each child brings two cents and for this amount of money we become members of the red cross get the fine junior red cross magazine for our room and get to wear a red cross button bu half of the children have already brought their money FOURTH GRADE if you were to come into the fourth grade room you would see witches with cats riding on their broomsticks owls with white and yellow eyes big pumpkin faces with mouths turned up UD on october 8 rows one and three gave rows two four and five a party rows one and three had to give the party because they were the noisiest nois iest during the month we played games 9 a m e s and then ate refreshments which consisted of sandwiches cookies and peanuts we are looking forward to our halloween party each one of us is making his own dictionary when we are reading our lessons I 1 and come across a word we dont know we learn how to pronounce it and then we find out what it means after doing this we write it in our dictionary with the mean 1 ing in our own words this is helping us to learn new words THIRD GRADE we have had 14 children in our grade but now we have only 13 as juanita garcia left with her parents and sister alice for salt lake city where they will make their home this year we have new arithmetic books they are very nic and new and it is fun to work the problems in them on stormy days we go into the auditorium and play ball bail each of us is getting new gym shoes as the floor has been surfaced resurfaced re and we do not want to ruin it by playing on it with hard soled shoes SECOND GRADE the second grade is busy preparing for halloween the room is decorated with corn stalks pumpkins and a scarecrow scare crow the children have made all the make believe characters from and arranged them in panel scenes borders calendar and window decorations j A costume party is
