| Show I 1 blanding student wins award 1 0 logan aug 18 owen burnham I 1 of blanding a vocational agriculture I 1 ri graduate from the san I 1 I 1 juan high school last spring has I 1 been selected as a winner of a sars ars roebuck co scholarship schol archip chip to ahe utah state agricultural college next fall to study agriculture i it was announced this week i by dr R H walker dean of the school of agriculture at the and chairman of the scholarship committee I 1 the recipient of the scholarship 1 has been unusually outstanding as aa j an agricultural student at the local toi loi I 1 high school the past few years I 1 he has been a member of the san juan chapter of future farmers i of america since it was organized I 1 i if four our years ago and has been its president the past three years during his freshman dearburn year ye arBurn burnham will compete with the 24 other winners for the sophomore award also sponsored by sears roebuck the winner of this award will be the one if f the 25 freshmen with the highest sf hola Thip record and eai eat i ar iri 1 eap aspeci specially ally 1 jes tb tays a r second stipend i used to lo further the sa s1 ude nv la agriculture i at the end of the sophomore year the most outstanding one of these 25 students is eligible to compete I 1 for two national scholarships given by the sears roebuck co in this competition 48 schools are represented one scholarship of is given to the highest ranking in boy from these schools another scholarship is given to the best boy in the western division winner of the sophomore award a year ago was jay anderson of brigham city and in in com pet petition tion for he national awa 1 I with the students of other colleges and universities young anderson went to chicago where the winner cf the scholarship was it ib be picked at this meeting anderson was awarded a 1 hird scholarship I 1 of with which he will continue his education in the school of agriculture at the college next fall |
