Show recipe column escalloped ESCAL LOPED ONIONS AND CHEESE 2 cups small boiled onions 4 tablespoons butter 4 tablespoons flour 2 cups milk aj 4 teaspoon paprika I 1 teaspoon salt 14 4 teaspoon celery salt 1 teaspoon prepared mustard I 1 1 1 a 2 cup cheese cut fine 1 1 melt butter on top of double boiler add flour flaur and blend blena add milk slowly stirring constantly add seasoning and cheese and cook until cr creamy earny stirring constantly st place cooked onions in in buttered baking dish pour pou r 0 over v er sauce and bake 20 minutes in a moderate oven FRUIT SALAD 1 cup crushed pineapple 1 cup diced dicea peaches I 1 cup diced dicea bananas 1 cup diced dicea pears lettuce fruit salad dressing I 1 toss fruits together lightly or you may prefer to serve the fruits in larger sectors sec tons instead of diced dicea seive on lettuce with dressing chopped nuts may be sprinkled ver vei top if desired fruit salad dressing use desired amount of pineapple juice heat in double boiler and thicken with a little corn starch add beaten egg yolk G 1 yolk to cupful of dressing and remove from heat stirring stirrup tig thoroughly add a few grains gi ains of salt a rounded teaspoonful of butter and a little honey if desired cool butter may be omitted and whipped cream combined with the dressing before serving OAT CAKES 2 oz butter I 1 1 teaspoon salt pound flour vi 1 pint milk 1 ib scotch oatmeal rub first three together pour in milk which has been warmed sift in oatmeal and stir well to a paste bake 20 or 30 min in moderate oven when set but not hartl take out curl over with fin fingers gersi and crisp before fire |
