Show NEWS FROM BRIGHAM YOUNG university carl robbins and elaine S robbins of blanding are mern members bers of the brigham young university summer school student body which saw music and educational history made in late june one event of significance was he festival of five concerts concert played by the world famous roth string quartet on june 21 they gave the first intermountain performance of leroy J quintet in A minor so successful was the number that they pronounced the BYU musician a firs rank composer and declared their determination to play it in other concerts in the gre crept lt center ers the composition won first in a national contest in 1936 the same week A C lambert conducted the fourth conference on improvement of education with dean ned H dearborn of new york university dean ralph horn of buffalo teachers college N Y and other authorities speaking an unusual array of superintendents principals and teachers from many intermountain districts gained practical help and contributed results of their experience peri ence to the meet mexico canada hawaii and 16 states besides utah are represented in the summer student body of about the first term will end july 19 and the alpine term at aspen grove will commence july 22 |
