Show PUBLIC HEALTH COLUMN office of state board of health vit lt lake city feb 15 there fiere were 93 more new cases of measles in the week ending february 10 than for the previous week and 56 more cases than for the corresponding week last year according to the communicable disease report for the week ending february 10 released today by the utah state board of health other material increases were noted in chickenpox chicken pox and whooping cough and smaller increases in the number of new cases of influenza pneumonia tuberculosis and epidemic meningitis decreases were noted in the number of cases of mumps and scarlet f fever ever there was a total of cases 6 communicable disease reported VV the state board of health which was an increase of over the total for the corresponding week last year dr J L jones state health commissioner called attention to this increase in the number of communicable disease cases and warned the public that since this is the time of year when the common cold is so prevalent everyone should be cautious about going into public places with a common cold or associating with persons who have obvious symptoms of a cold children should be isolated immediately upon apon the development of symptoms of colds and the doctor should be called as soon as possible if the symptoms do not respond to rest the incidence of the common communicable diseases dise dis aes eaves dr jones says could be very mater materially jall reduced if everyone would be careful to keep his children at home when they have common colds because quite frequently the beginning symptoms of these thes dis eases are mistaken for courmon colds |
