Show pioneer resident taken by death the community of monticello and san juan county will be saddened by the news of the death of miss caroline cordelia perkins which occurred in provo ort oft monday october 2 miss perkins was a kind and loving person and was loved and highly respected by all who knew her she was born in cedar city utah february 11 1873 her mother mrs caroline thurston tb u arston died shortly afterward and she was adopted by benjamin perkins and wife mary ann with her adopted parents she moved to bluff in 1880 and after residing there for a number of years came to monticello in 1889 she attended the local schools later going to the brigham young un university for further schooling she was an active business woman and during her career accumulated quite a wealth in real estate she never married for a great number of years she operated the perkins rooming house and only of late was she unable to maintain that business she enjoyed good health until about a month ago when she was taken to the hospital at moab failing to regain her health there she was removed to provo where death occurred her body was brought to monticello monday evening funeral services were held tuesday afternoon at at the church with bishop L frank redd in charge music was furnished by a quartet consisting of te bronson brothers and clarence black arthur S wood spoke after which mrs arthur anderson andersen gave a reading george F barton was the next speaker followed by a duet number by mrs carroll meador and mrs arch bronson the next speaker was Pr president Aident A J redd and this was followed by two duet nan numbers ibers rendered by arch bronson and loile bailey and mrs julius bailey and max bailey prayer was offered by karl S lyman at the cemetery music was furnished by the bronson quartet the grave was dedicated by karl S barton deceased is survived by the following brothers and sisters mrs mary jane wilson daniel 13 perkins perking john perkins mrs ruth bailey all of monticello mrs katherine P ryan and mrs naomi bronson of los angeles and mrs vira of minneapolis |
