would elapse before it would be possible to get one numerical designation the delegates agreed our purposes would be best served by using an attractive name something warm and enchanting R G fletcher moab told how they used to direct travelers by means of colored stakes he and wilkes bozman of cortez and others had placed at crossroads when directing tourists they would say its nothing but a navajo trail follow the stakes so after a while they got to calling the road the navajo trail all fell in love with the idea and enthusiastically agreed we should call our road THE NAVAJO TRAIL and our group THE NAVAJO TRAIL association the objects of the association were agreed upon as being to develop highway to standard federal specifications its anti antie re length to work toward making highway extend to la junta and to attract a maximum of traffic by all legitimate and honorable mens the difficulty of obtaining mileage for 10 so it could be made a part of the seven per cent system was w as discussed john dunbar dove creek stated 80 from near dove creek toward ridgway had been taken out of the system and thought that should entitle us to consideration the first step in getting 10 designated is to get a resolution from each board of commissioners in each county thru which and 10 passes directors in each county seat are asked to accomplish this ansel hall described in detail a project he and others have been working on through which will be made available attractive road signs something of the style used by the park and forest service he stated his group wanted to work per cent with the navajo trails organization and plans were made whereby he would coordinate and correlate the project continued an on page eight highway continued from first page with our association sealing up the s agns gns and providing information for them the plan is to erect s agns gns at the approaches to the various towns directing attention to the nearest outstanding al traction with mileage mr hall will contact all the officers from time to time as he has need of their services nearly is now earmarked for this work thanks thank sf mr hall and an d his associates it thought actual construction of the signs can be undertaken soon they will be made in montezuma county under the it being felt the organization was sufficiently organized and set up u p to consider propositions the m matter atter of the clear creek road was discussed thoroughly A resolution was passed asking that construction be delayed until such time as other neze nee sary roads were completed nearly everyone present took a little time to speak of 0 the scenic scenic or other attractions near their home As a result someone said it takes meetings like these to learn about our neighbors and what got s mr
