Show blanding school contract in do doubt abt bo bowers w e r s B building u i 1 d in g company m p any too F flatly 1 a t ly R refused e f u s ed to S sign ig n awarded Cn contract tract thereupon school board accepts bid of vern C aalboe but acceptance by awaited BULLETIN mail brought the expected information from washington D C that the aalboe contract is satisfactory to the department part ment and for the board to arrange for the additional finances to complete the building which has already been done the past week or two has been an anxious period for county superintendent perin H lloyd hansen and members of the county school board and as stated in our last issue the county superintendent and the chairman of the school board made a trip into salt lake city to try and clear up the matter and get in a position to proceed with the construction of the building the bowers building company still maintained that a palpable error had been made in their bid and refused to sign the contract for the construction of the building A precedent had been established in a ruling of the third district court by which a similar contractor was given relief and hs h s guarantee deposit returned to him however this phase of the bowers bid is still pending and will be contested by the school board according to mr hansen but so far as the execution of the contract and erection of the building the bowers company was removed from the picture and the contract was awarded to the next highest bidder who was vern C aalboe of provo his bid being for mr aalboe is reported willing to proceed with the contract buethe but the matter awaits the confirmation by the P W A administration at washington D C the san fran frani i cisco office having refused to act favorably in the matter if the aalboe bid is finally approved and the contract awarded the school board will have to raise an additional eight or orten ten thousand dollars for the completion of the building or exercise exer cisa their option privilege and cutout some of the equipment or appointments point ments which the architect calls bleeding at the nose as all these details are essential and will cost more if later reinstated or added piecemeal 1 for the present time is slipping by and nothing is being done which is much to be re regretted retted as every one is anxious to see thet tha new structure under way su perin hansen is anxiously awaiting the arrival of every mail for final word in relation to tha th aalboe contract |
