Show special activities of home nome of truth and san juan co y HISTORY OF THE HOME OF TRUTH 1 THE ORIGIN OF THE HOME OF TRUTH COLONY EARLY DAYS AT CHURCH ROCK our previous article published dec 3 gave information concerning the inception incept i on and carrying forward of a plan which was unfolded taru 2 a form of inspirational writing which since and which is being followed to the letter in regard to every branch of our work we left you at a point which r marked our arrival at the mountain top out post where our few believing friends had bad gathered this little band numbered eighteen and our arrival brought to all who were expected at that time another member who arrived some 0 avs before was stationed at the CHURCH ROCK LOCATION at which point we were directed to set up our own tent until more definite nite arrangements for settlement at this point of contact could be made arnado As we passed thru this desert country on the final day but tine one of our journey we left a tent ten tand and few personal things at church rock and another tent and other things at a point a few miles to the west where ve ne v e expected to live in absolute retirement ti during a part of cacti week in between visits to the roadside camp and the mountain top out post our first visit to the mountain top was for the purpose of greeting the friends who had assembled there an to leave our new york friend there since her work was to earned on with that group as she related in I 1 the ahe article she wrote several weeks ago in which she outlined the more intimate things of home life during th HIP firt first winter two days later we returned to the dry valley section and set up our tent there and the one inland and so began a new experience which was nothing short of tho the crudest kind of pioneering in every sense of the word at the wand inland location we were able to got get water which supplied our needs at either place but aside from this and the barest needs in regard to food we were obliged to live somewhat like the sheep herders gerders do as they tend their sheep in this vast open country we made weekly trips to the mountain top during the fall months and so the days passed although filled with uncertainty in all ways because of the failure on the part of one to whom we entrusted the establishment of the minin out post to follow our guidance in true and honest fashion and because of the opposition which was accorded us on the part of those who were in league with him to carry thru an agreement which we had never seen nor been advised of in so far as the signing of contracts or the detail of management was concerned in the meanwhile others arrived from various places and all were taken to the albu maintain etain top out post because at that point we had ample water supply sit an I 1 had established ourselves as a group to await the outcome of interviews we had arranged for with the owners of the mining project and the owner of the land we hoped to purchase in tho the lower altitude no one ot of our eastern friends will wil I 1 ever know the heartaches and aissa point ments of tho thoe thoc e early days unless they are placed in similar position we were unable to make leven a down payment with the amount entrusted to our care on the one hand and we were faced with with a flock of bills bill to t pay which were the result of the u of the top outpost and the work entrusted to one whom we thought was working in harmony with our word of guid ance we ballod ofir ielo bund band to tor for coun pa i I 1 s de claret on pae aze 41 4 special activities continued from page 1 themselves willing to mi mar lep up def if we paid all bills out of our reserve fund and so wt we cancelled our indebtedness and started all over again or so we thought but alas for those whom we still thought were true and in full harmony began to wrangle among themselves and so began a series of events which ended in the severance wl ot contact of one of the outstanding ng rig male members of the original croup and the separation of others in so far as opinions might differ and then the establishment of another out post some fourteen males south of Dl blanding anding in order that those who were unable to stand the rigors of winter in the higher altitude t might live in the lower and more moderate climate we might also call to your attention the journey to the creek camp as outlined in a previous article and which was again costly in all ways and added much to our burden of responsibility and to the thedis dis comfort of those early days it was not until the middle of december that our affairs seemed to ti adjust and we were ablo able to begin our mining activities under a new lease leac you may rest assured that we were grateful for the opportunity to show that we were made of finer form than that which we were reported to be for we soon found that we were being misrepresented I 1 and alvis understood in more ways than could possibly be imagined this was not the end however wi as will be told in future articles since we v 0 o we aie going to relate many incidents which will give y yu u a rue picture of the early experiences thru which we wac obliged to pass in order that our guidance might prove e it itsel true and from the ril right ht I 1 source I 1 with one group nov located on the mountain top and another at A the recapture settlement as this new location was called we divided our kinle tinip between those these two distant points and our own dry valley head quarters while the adventures thus related were in progress we made certain changes a at the church rock point of settlement as a result of other disa point ments which prevented us from securing the land we were n negotiating for but which we still expect to purchase when the price is right and the funds are available realizing that these obstacles elds would retard our progress we asked aske d for and received guidance to settle ourselves at a point solve so ante three miles in from the highway at a spot known to our local wends jends as photograph gap cap and at which place we then moved our tents which were located at church rock and at the other inland point when the changes referred to were made on the mountain top we ed the number it at this point and included several mien men who were evere willing to build the arst community house at photograph gap and several smaller cabins which were needed as we faced the winter months so began the desert settlement we call ne and in our nt article we shall relate certain happenings which caused the dis of the recapture settlement and the further I 1 grown of this three mile deat devilor iop menta and how we to establish government claims here which would allow us the freedom which every one of gods children tire are entitled to in spite of man made laws which would limit our claims and drive us from these our established homes if they could aa M al 0 |
